Poland's Maria Andrejczyk could enhance her 2020 Olympic silver medal performance after delivering the best throw in Wednesday’s javelin qualifying round. At Stade de France, the 28-year-old Andrejczyk achieved a season-best 65.52 meters on her first attempt, securing her place in the final and ending her session early.
Croatia's Sara Kolak, the 2016 Olympic champion, was close behind with a throw of 64.57 meters. Meanwhile, Colombia’s Flor Denis Ruiz Hurtado, the season’s world leader with a mark of 66.70 meters, recorded a throw of 64.40 meters to place third. To qualify for the final, throwers needed either a minimum throw of 62.0 meters or a top-12 finish.
Austria's Victoria Hudson, who came to Paris with the third-best throw of the season (66.06 meters), struggled and finished 20th overall. Similarly, Serbia's Adriana Vilagos, ranked fourth with a throw of 65.49 meters, also had a disappointing performance, throwing 60.49 meters and missing the final by one spot.
