Posted : 29 April 2024

Belgium's Manon De Roey sealed a magnificent season on the Sunshine Ladies Tour by clinching a four-stroke victory at the Investec South African Women’s Open held at the Erinvale Country and Golf Estate. Holding a three-stroke lead going into the final round, De Roey maintained her composure to card a closing 72, finishing at 14 under par overall. This win marked her second victory on the Ladies European Tour and her first on the Sunshine Ladies Tour.

Reflecting on her performance, De Roey expressed her delight, stating, “I’m super happy with my performance this week. I had a couple of goals at the beginning of this year and one of them was to win again.”

Meanwhile, England’s Gabriella Cowley emerged as the overall Investec Order of Merit champion, sharing second place with New Zealand’s Momoka Kobori at 10 under par. South Africa’s Nicole Garcia secured fourth place at eight under par, also earning the title of the leading South African on the Investec Order of Merit.

De Roey embraced the windy conditions with confidence, maintaining her lead throughout the final round without feeling pressured by the field. Garcia, equally pleased with her performance, expressed her surprise and joy at clinching second place on the Investec Order of Merit and receiving a Renault for her title as the leading South African player.

Additionally, France’s Emma Grechi enjoyed a lucrative final round, scoring an albatross on the par-five 16th and winning R500,000 courtesy of Renault. The Investec South African Women’s Open marked the conclusion of this season’s Sunshine Ladies Tour, which featured eight tournaments showcasing top talent in women's golf.
