Maiden Snooker Fest berths in Lagos, Nov. 4 - organisers

As the billiard community in Nigeria continues to grow day by day, the organizers of the Maiden Snooker Fest have announced November 4 as the date.

The organizers, in a statement, disclosed that it is evident in the massive participation in almost every local and standard bar across the nation, with some of the finest pool players in Lagos, Nigeria.

However, 36 Media LTD has teamed up with Hot FM and Pesoheti Sports to produce the first Snooker festival in Nigeria. The sport is chosen due to its ability to connect people from different walks of life.

"We are bringing pool and entertainment together, thereby strengthening the sport, creative, and tourism industries.

"We are creating a platform where pool players, food and party lovers can connect, play, and compete to win cash and other enticing prizes, enjoying great performances from some of Nigeria's DJs, hype men, and music artists.

"We have designed the festival to cater to everyone's experience, providing Jenga, a trampoline, limbo, and cards for guests who do not play pool, while 20 pool tables will be positioned at different points in the event venue for pool players to enjoy.

"A professional snooker table will also be positioned at the center of the event venue for different tournaments, where winners will go home with cash prizes.

"The festival is bringing together the young and old to build strong, positive connections that will contribute greatly to the development of the sport and creative industries. It is sponsored by Tecno Mobile, Fez Delivery Co, Moniepoint, and Liquor Central.

According to the organizers, the event is endorsed by the Cue Sports Association of Nigeria, Billiard Academy Nigeria, and Nigeria Premier Pool League.

"It is a fact that the youth are excelling in the entertainment industry, and Snooker Fest intends to tap into this opportunity to create a platform that will boost the sport and creative industry.

"The 2023 Snooker Fest will be held at Muri Okunola Park, Victoria Island, Lagos, on Saturday, November 4, and gates will open at 2 p.m.

Emmanuel Agbaeze, the Creative Director and organizer of the 2023 Snooker Fest, said that the festival would explore untapped potentials in the billiard community and attract investors.

He mentioned that the festival would serve as a platform for the billiard community to strengthen the sports and tourism sectors in the country.

"There are different ideas behind this festival, but the main one is to showcase the enormous talents of the billiard community in the country to the global audience.

"The potential of this particular sport is underutilized.

"This festival is going to explore ways that the billiard community can play major roles in boosting the sports sector in the country.

"Snooker has the capacity to connect people from different walks of life, so this festival will build a strong positive connection that will contribute greatly to the sports and tourism industry," Agbaeze said.

He urged the public to attend the festival, noting that cash prizes worth N3 million would be won at the festival.
