The HSBC BWF World Tour calendar for 2024-2026 will see the return of the Macau Open (Super 300), replacing the New Zealand Open. The decision was made after Badminton New Zealand opted to relinquish its hosting rights for the New Zealand Open in March of this year.
BWF Secretary General Thomas Lund expressed confidence in the Badminton Federation of Macau, stating that the Macau Open, a fixture on the tour since 2006, would deliver a spectacular tournament in the upcoming three-year cycle. The 2024 edition of the Macau Open is scheduled to take place from September 24 to 29.
Macau's selection as the host for the vacant position aligns with its longstanding presence on the badminton tour, having been a consistent part of the calendar since 2006. Thomas Lund praised the decision, expressing excitement about welcoming Macau back to the tour in 2024.
The Badminton Federation of Macau is expected to organize and execute a high-quality tournament, continuing the Macau Open's legacy as a significant event on the badminton circuit. The last edition of the Macau Open was held in 2019, making its return in 2024 eagerly anticipated.
