Louis Oosthuizen's absence from the 106th PGA Championship was notable, as he declined a special invitation due to undisclosed personal commitments, reducing the number of LIV Golf representatives in the upcoming event to 16.
Despite Oosthuizen's withdrawal, the LIV contingent will be spearheaded by defending champion Brooks Koepka, a three-time winner of the event fresh off his victory in LIV's Singapore tournament last week.
Joining Koepka are eight other LIV players who qualified for the event, including the likes of Bryson DeChambeau, Tyrrell Hatton, Dustin Johnson, Martin Kaymer, Phil Mickelson, Andy Ogletree, Jon Rahm, and Cam Smith.
Additionally, Talor Gooch confirmed his participation after receiving a special invitation, joining six other LIV players who also received invites, such as former Masters champion Patrick Reed, Joaquin Niemann, Dean Burmester, Adrian Meronk, Lucas Herbert, and David Puig.
Among the notable absentees who did not receive invitations are former Masters champion Sergio Garcia, Abraham Ancer, and Carlos Ortiz. Despite his past successes, Garcia's ranking has plummeted to 714th, while Ancer and Ortiz, despite recent achievements, have not been selected for the event, highlighting the competitive nature of the tournament and the stringent criteria for participation.
