LGAN: Over 200 Golfers to converge on IGC for Western Zonal Championship

The organisers of the 8th edition of the Ladies Golf Association of Nigeria (LGAN) Western Zonal Championship on Wednesday said that all was now set for the competition to be held from April 20-22.

According to the organisers, the prestigious Ibadan Golf Club (IGC) fondly known as the “Home of Golf" will play host to the 8th edition.

"Ibadan no doubt will be agog to host our 8th edition of the Ladies Golf Association of Nigeria (LGAN) Western Zonal Championship.

"It is considered as the biggest LGAN Zonal Championship,'' it said.

The Western Zonal President of LGAN, Evelyn Oyome confirmed that over 200 golfers and guests from across the zone are expected to participate in the event to battle for top prizes and honours.

However, the event which will feature LGAN top players as Alaba Adetunji, Diana Osmond, Mary Onyejose among others from the zone who have made their mark in the game speaks volume of the magnitude of the Zonal Championship.

Oyome, also a great LGAN player with laurels added: “This is one championship that showcases the best of LGAN players at the Zonal level.

"It implies that participants and fans of golf will definitely be glad to be part of the event, because we will parade LGAN top players as Alaba Adetunji, Diana Osmond, Mary Onyejose to mention a few.

"There will also be lots of fun and take aways,'' she said.

The event will commence with the arrival and accreditation of participants on Friday April 21 as well as practice round.

On Saturday April 21, Ladies round tees off at 7:00 a.m. just as the welcome party will hold at 6:00 p.m.

Sunday April 23 will witness the round of Women & Special Guests (Men) teeing off at 7:00 a.m. to wrap up the event as presentation of prizes and awards for winners and other deserving personalities comes up later in the day.

LGAN President, Princess Juliet Monyei-Inyere top the list of dignitaries expected at the event; others include Alhaja Mutiat Ladoja and Yeye Desire Osunsina as special guests of honour; Mr. Olatunji Abiodun Adediran, SAN and Mrs. Funke Majekodunmi, trustees for the Western Zone.
