Lekki Scrabble Club President Samuel Anikoh has been highlighting the strategic role this year's edition of the Lekki Scrabble Classics will play in the successes of players eyeing good outings at Africa's premier championship in Rwanda.
The African Scrabble Championship (ASC), the biennial "battle board" of the continent, will witness the convergence of many mindgamers who will hunt for honor, pride, and glory in Kigali, the capital.
Players from over 15 countries will compete for top titles at the pinnacle of the Scrabble championship, scheduled to take place from October 23-27 in the East African country.
This convergence comes less than a month after the classy Lekki Scrabble Classics, which will be held on the 28th and 29th in Lagos, giving greater strategic importance to this edition.
"We are actually quite pleased with the timing of the LSC," revealed the amiable LSC President.
"We have the pleasure of providing a platform for players to sharpen their minds in readiness for the ASC in Kigali, Rwanda.
“There’s the added benefit that hopefully the mouthwatering prize money on offer will provide some support to players who plan to make the trip to Rwanda."
"We are also glad that the LSC has been carefully selected annually to take place on the closest weekend to the celebration of Nigeria’s Independence Day, allowing us to escape the rigors of everyday living to celebrate, relax, and compete fairly over the Scrabble board, despite our very diverse cultures," Anikoh said.
Defending champion Enoch Nwali, who also holds the ASC title, along with other top contenders, is expected to test their word power at the annual tournament.
Loense International, Front-page Couture, Midasfarms, MGi, Elcrest E&P, Ayodele Thomas Consulting, Julyet Peters, and AGPC will be backing the LSC 2024.
