Lauren Coughlin clinched the ISPS Handa Women’s Scottish Open title with a 3-under-par 69, finishing four strokes ahead of her nearest competitor. Her total of 15-under 273 for the tournament marked her second LPGA win in just 21 days, following her debut victory at the CPKC Women's Open last month. Coughlin’s impressive performance in Ayrshire, Scotland, showcased her ability to bounce back from early setbacks.
Starting the final round with two bogeys in the first four holes, Coughlin initially opened the door for Megan Khang, who was just one stroke behind and in second place. Despite briefly tying for the lead, Khang struggled with three bogeys and only one birdie, finishing the round with a 74 and slipping to a tie for third at 9-under par.
Germany’s Esther Henseleit, who won silver at the Paris Olympics, secured the runner-up spot with a 70, improving her position with three birdies and a bogey on the back nine. Coughlin, after her challenging start, regained her momentum with five birdies, including at Nos. 14, 15, and 18, and completed the final seven holes with single-putts to seal the victory.
In addition to Coughlin’s triumph, Japan’s Ayaka Furue and England’s Charley Hull finished tied for third and fifth, respectively. Furue shot a 68 to finish six strokes behind the leader, while Hull’s round of 73 left her in fifth place. Gabriela Ruffels and Jin Young Ko tied for sixth, eight strokes off the lead. Hull reflected on her week, noting that while she was pleased with her performance over the first three rounds, the final round's conditions presented challenges.
