In the upcoming EEVZA Beach Volleyball Tour 2024, Latvia is set to host a robust competition with 43 teams in the men’s category and 28 teams in the women’s category. Among the notable pairs, 2012 Olympic bronze medallist Mārtiņš Pļaviņš of Latvia will team up with Edgars Točs, aiming to build on their previous Olympic success.
The Latvian contingent also features promising players like Ernests Puškundzis, Toms Emīls Liepa, Olivers Bulgačs, and Markuss Graudiņš, showcasing a blend of experience and emerging talent on home sands.
In the women’s competition, Latvian hopes are carried by teams such as Līva Ebere/Deniela Konstantinova, Anete Namiķe/Anija Ozoliņa, and Marta Ozoliņa/Luize Skrastiņa. They will face strong competition from Lithuania's Gerda Grudzinskaite/Urte Andriukaityte and Skalve Križanauskaite/Ariana Rudkovskaja, alongside Ukrainian young talents Yeva Serdiuk/Daria Romaniuk. The tournament anticipates a total of 23 teams from Lithuania, Ukraine, and Estonia, promising fierce battles on Latvian shores.
Action kicks off on Friday with the qualification round at 11:00, followed by the men’s pool matches later in the evening. Saturday will see the continuation with group games and the start of the playoff tournament, leading up to Sunday’s climax featuring the quarterfinals and the crowning of the tournament’s medallists. The event not only promises thrilling beach volleyball action but also serves as a platform for showcasing Baltic and Ukrainian talent in an international arena.
