Judd Trump secures 15th consecutive victory with clinical whitewash at Northern Ireland Open
Posted : 25 October 2023
Judd Trump advanced to the third round of the Northern Ireland Open with his 15th consecutive ranking event victory, defeating Justin Leclercq in a clinical 4-0 whitewash. In just 45 minutes, the world No. 3 displayed ruthless efficiency against the Belgian opponent, who could only show brief glimpses of his talent.
The match started with Trump in rampant fashion, scoring a break of 108, his 33rd century of the season, to take the lead. In the second frame, Leclercq found himself in a snooker-required situation within five minutes, and Trump continued his dominance with another century, extending his lead.
While Leclercq had a brief opportunity at the table, he couldn't capitalize, and Trump's return saw him one frame away from victory. The final frame, although the cagiest of the match, ended with Trump in control, securing the win with a dominant display.
Judd Trump will face Ian Burns in the third round, while Jimmy Robertson also claimed a whitewash victory and is set to compete against Barry Hawkins in the next round after Hawkins narrowly won earlier in the tournament.
