Colombia's Juan Sebastian Molano claimed victory in stage 12 of the Vuelta a España in a thrilling sprint finish, while American Sepp Kuss maintained his overall race lead.
Molano, 29, benefited from an excellent lead-out by his UAE Team Emirates teammate Rui Oliveira and narrowly held off Australia's Kaden Groves at the finish line. Dutch rider Boy van Poppel secured third place in the flat 150.6km stage from Olvega to Zaragoza.
In the general classification, Kuss remains in the lead, holding a 26-second advantage over Spain's Marc Soler. Reigning champion Remco Evenepoel occupies the third position, and three-time winner Primoz Roglic is fourth, having gained four seconds in the intermediate sprint. Among the British riders, Hugh Carthy is the highest-placed in 13th, trailing Kuss by almost five minutes.
The upcoming stage will see the race venture into France, featuring a challenging Pyrenees mountain stage culminating at the iconic Col du Tourmalet.
