Jordan Spieth Targets Return for 2025 PGA Season After Wrist Surgery

Posted : 18 September 2024

Jordan Spieth is making good progress following wrist surgery and is optimistic about returning to competition by the start of the 2025 PGA Tour season. In an interview with Golfweek, Spieth expressed his goal of being fully tournament-ready by January 1, 2025, not just to test his wrist but to perform at his highest level. Spieth, seen with a cast on his left wrist during a recent public appearance at a fundraiser near Dallas, first sustained the injury in 2023 and last competed at the FedEx St Jude Classic in August.

Spieth shared that the decision to undergo surgery was influenced by how the injury impacted his daily life. He described frequent wrist dislocations occurring during routine activities, such as caring for his daughter, which convinced him that surgery was necessary to prevent further complications. Despite consulting with multiple doctors, it became clear that the injury wouldn’t heal on its own, prompting him to take action.

Throughout his career, Spieth has secured three major championships and 13 PGA Tour victories, though his last win came at the RBC Heritage in April 2022. His 2024 season started strong with a third-place finish at The Sentry and a sixth-place tie at the WM Phoenix Open, but inconsistency and missed cuts followed, leaving him without additional top-10 finishes.

While Spieth did not qualify for the 2025 season-opening tournament, The Sentry, he is eligible to compete in the Sony Open in Hawaii, set for January 9-12 at Waialae Country Club, marking his anticipated return to the tour.
