Italy Bounces Back with Convincing Win Over Tonga in Nuku'alofa

Italy bounced back from their recent loss to Samoa with a resounding 36-14 victory over Tonga in Nuku'alofa on Friday. The visitors asserted their dominance early, securing a 15-0 lead by halftime through tries from wingers Jacopo Trulla and Monty Ioane, complemented by a penalty and conversion from flyhalf Paolo Garbisi.

 

Tonga showed resilience with loose forward Viliami Taulani scoring early in the second half, narrowing the gap. However, Italy swiftly regained control as captain Michele Lamaro and scrumhalf Alessandro Garbisi added two more tries, effectively sealing the match.

 

Italy capped off their performance with a penalty try awarded after Tonga collapsed multiple scrums near their own goalposts, wrapping up a convincing win and boosting morale as they head to Japan for the final leg of their tour.
