Nigeria's U-18 national handball team, under the guidance of Coach Emeka Nnamani, defeated the host Ghana in the Youth category of the IHF Trophy Africa Zone 3 Phase.
The brotherly rivalry between the two sides came to the fore and manifested itself in the first half, which ended with Nigeria narrowly edging the Ghanaians 14-12 despite the end-to-end situation that kept fans on the edge of their seats.
The second half continued pretty much the same way, but Kareem Farouk was at his best as Nigeria's U-18 team secured two consecutive victories by overcoming Ghana 31-26 in the presence of their fans.
Kareem Farouk was rightly awarded the most outstanding player of the match.
Nigeria's U-18 men's team will play Togo on Thursday at 2 pm, while Nigeria's U-20 men's team, who greatly supported their U-18 counterparts against Ghana, will play their second match against Benin Republic at 8 pm.
