Nigeria’s U-18 and U-20 handball men's teams began the IHF Trophy Africa Zone 3 Phase campaign in Accra, Ghana, on a winning note, securing comfortable victories over Benin Republic and Liberia, respectively.
The U-18 team, led by Coach Emeka Nnamani, set the pace, being ruthless from the start, winning the first half 22-6, and concluding their game with a massive 45-19 victory over Benin Republic in the Youth category.
The outstanding player of the match was Nigeria’s U-18 player, Mohammed Mustapha.
The U-20 team, led by veteran coach Fidelis Obi, compounded the woes of Liberia by earning a convincing 33-7 in the first half before winning the match with an annihilating 61-19 victory.
Nigeria's U-18 team will face host Ghana on Wednesday, while the U-20 team will have to wait until Thursday to play against Benin Republic.
