Ibadan agog as IGC Lady Captain’s Inaugural Kitty Tees Off

The organisers of the IGC Lady Captain’s Inaugural Kitty on Tuesday announced that over 200 golfers across the country would participate in its maiden edition to be held at the Ibadan Golf Club (IGC) Onireke.

The loud city of Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State, is now set to host the epic battle to be held at the undulating Onireke axis of the Government Reservation Area (GRA) of the ancient city.

The Lady Captain’s Inaugural Kitty will Tee off on June 22 and expected to close on June 24.

According to the organisers, no fewer than 200 golfers from across the country are expected to converge on the Oyo State capital for the event that will mark the official inauguration of the new Lady Captain, Dorcas Oluwatunmise and her team whom are expected to hit the ground running to take the Ladies' Section to the next level in Nigeria while her tenure lasts.

In this regard, a two-round of golf will hold within the three days of the event to make the inauguration a memorable one for the participants and fans of golf who will be on ground.

The programme schedule revealed that on Thursday, June 22, the Veterans, Super Veterans and the “Pros” will hit the course for the round one game, while Friday, June 23 will witness the practice round and a welcome, sumptuous cocktail party for the participants.

Saturday, June 24 will be the heat of the moment – the second round of golf and the main event which tees off at 6:30 a.m., just as the closing ceremony, comes up later same day.

In all of these, the Lady Captain, Oluwatunmise, emphasised that the event will mark a new dawn in the onward development of the Ladies' Section of the IGC.

“It’s a normal ritual in the golfing world to organise a Captain’s Inaugural Kitty which formally sets off a new tenure; however this occasion also affords me the opportunity to felicitate with members and guests to chat a new course for the game on how to move it forward for the benefit of the players.

“On the other hand, I want to restate that everyone will be carried along in the onerous task to move the IGC Ladies' Section forward; after all, golf is life.

"I will be expecting all participants to, in the spirit of sport, have fun, enjoy themselves and use the opportunity to network among themselves for a better tomorrow,” the Lady Captain concluded.
