Posted : 18 November 2024

The Handball Federation of Nigeria has released the schedule of fixtures for the second phase of the upcoming Ardova Handball Premier League 2024, set to take place in Lagos.

The second phase of the top-tier premier league, proudly sponsored by Ardova PLC, will run from Nov. 26 to Dec. 8 at the NIS Indoor Sports Hall, Surulere, Lagos, and the Rowe Park Sports Center, Yaba, Lagos. This follows the conclusion of the first phase earlier in the year in Benin City, Edo State.

The tournament director of the Ardova Handball Premier League, Mr. Shina Sanya, stated that the schedule of fixtures was released well in advance to enable teams to prepare adequately for the league.

"As we usually do, we have released the schedule of fixtures well ahead of time so that the 22 participating teams can commence adequate preparations for the matches.

"I believe all the teams have seen the fixtures and will prepare adequately and schedule their travels to arrive in Lagos in time for the technical meeting before facing their opponents," Shina said.

All eyes will be on league leaders in the male category, Tojemarine Academy, as they aim to maintain their lead in the second phase against seventh-place Corrections Boys.

Tojemarine Academy tops the table with 33 points, four points ahead of second-place Rima Strikers, who will begin their phase 2 campaign against De Defenders.

Niger United will hope to revive their title defense in the second phase when they face Sunshine Kings, who are 10th on the table.

Defending champions Safety Babes, unbeaten for over two years and leading the women's league with 27 points, will start their second-phase campaign against sixth-place Rivers Queens. Meanwhile, Defender Babes, second on the league table with 23 points, will face fourth-place Rima Queens.

The second phase in Lagos will crown the league winners in the men’s and women’s categories, with Tojemarine Academy and Safety Babes currently leading the tables with 33 and 27 points, respectively.
