Hannah Green of Australia took a commanding lead at the BMW Ladies Championship in Paju, South Korea, making four birdies on the front nine before play was suspended due to persistent rain. As the conditions worsened, the Seowon Hills course at Seowon Valley Country Club became unplayable, preventing any of the 78 competitors from completing the second round. The round will resume on Saturday morning, just before the start of the third round.
With 27 holes completed, Green sits at an impressive 12 under par, holding a two-stroke advantage over her nearest rival, South Africa’s Ashleigh Buhai. Buhai was 2 under at the turn when play was halted, putting her in second place at 10 under overall.
A group of players tied for third place at 8 under includes New Zealand's Lydia Ko, who was 3 under through 13 holes, Denmark's Nanna Koerstz Madsen, who was also 3 under but through 11, South Korea's Hye-Jin Choi at 2 under through 10, and Jenny Shin, even par after nine holes. Seven players, including Ryann O'Toole from the United States, who was 4 under through 14 holes, are tied for seventh at 7 under.
Green, 27, started strong with a birdie on the par-5 first hole, followed by consecutive birdies at the fourth, fifth, and sixth holes. She aims for her third victory of the season, though she has yet to place higher than a tie for 10th in her previous four appearances at the BMW Ladies Championship. Buhai, 35, is also in pursuit of success, having registered four birdies on the front nine but suffering a setback with a double-bogey on the par-5 eighth hole as she seeks to win a tournament for the third consecutive year.
