Nigeria's prestigious golf club, IBB International Golf and Country Club in Abuja, has unveiled its programs of events to mark Nigeria's 64th Independence Anniversary Golf Championship.
The Chairman of the Committee and Vice Captain of the Club, James Agbonhese, said the week-long event will tee off with a Staff and Caddies competition on Thursday.

The Ladies' section will celebrate both past Captains and past Lady Captains in a unique and special way. On Friday, ladies with a handicap of 28 and above, and men with a handicap of 19 and above, will compete.
Veterans and Super Veterans will play in the category three tournament.
On Saturday, it will be the turn of ladies with a handicap of 11 to 27 and men with a handicap of 11 to 18 in category two.
A double matchplay between the IBB players and their visiting golfers from Ghana, Uganda, Cameroon, and Rwanda will be held on Sunday, while a single matchplay between host and visiting countries will take place on Monday.
"On the 1st of October, we will have the grand finale.
"We will have a ceremonial tee-off in the morning with the Minister of Sports Development, Senator John Owan Enoh, and other top government officials at the ceremony.
"In the evening, there will be a party with food and drinks to celebrate Nigeria," the Vice Captain said.
"I want to say that we have no other country but Nigeria. We must celebrate our country, and whatever challenges we are facing today is a phase; Nigeria will be great again. Because of what Nigeria has done for all of us in our individual and collective lives, we have every reason to celebrate this country.
"This is why the Independence Cup tournament is very dear to our hearts in IBB, and we will do everything to showcase our country, our unity in diversity, and the prospects of our future existence," the Committee Chairman concluded.
In his remarks at the briefing, the Club Captain, Ibrahim Babayo, said that IBB International Golf and Country Club is a sports club that recognizes Nigeria's impact on the world, and they are happy to market the country to the entire world through their independence golf tournament.
He stated that the course is ready for the various categories of tournaments despite the rain.
Speaking in the same vein, Lady Captain Dame Julie Okah Donli said the Past Captains and Past Lady Captains tournament on Thursday is a special event to celebrate and appreciate them, as well as to thank them for their contributions during their tenure.
She mentioned that Afro-Juju maestro Shina Peters will be around to entertain everyone.
"It is going to be a very interesting day for Past Captains and Past Lady Captains, including everyone who will be present."
Different trophies and gifts have been purchased for all categories of winners.
Members of the committee were all present at the briefing.
