G4D Open: Brendan Lawlor emerges winner against Kipp Popert at Woburn

Ireland's Brendan Lawlor claimed the inaugural G4D Open title after a nervy final-round showdown with England's Kipp Popert at Woburn's Duchess Course.
Lawlor shot a three-over-par 75 to finish three over, placing him second in the world rankings for golfers with disabilities.
The world's number one player, Popert, had a one-shot lead after nine holes but bogeyed three of his next six holes to finish with a 76 and a five-over total.
Ellis-van Creveld syndrome, an uncommon illness, affects the 26-year-old’s health. He said "I'm proud of myself just to get it done - really happy".
"Hopefully this is the start and we're going to have many more of these major events. Disability golf is definitely on the way up."
Lawlor, who is ranked second among golfers with disabilities in the world, shot a three-over-par 75 to finish three over.
Popert, who is rated number one, had a one-shot lead after nine holes but lost it after bogeying three of his next six holes to finish with a 76 and a five-over total.
Ellis-van Creveld syndrome is a rare disease that the 26-year-old, who has it, said
"It was great fun," said 24-year-old Popert, who has won five times on the G4D Tour in 2022-23.
