Adamu Erena, the former President of the Nigeria Squash Federation (NSF), highlighted the significant strides squash made in 2023, especially with its inclusion in the 2028 Atlanta Olympics. Speaking in an exclusive interview in Lagos on Friday, Erena praised the growing awareness, exposure, and publicity the sport received throughout the year.
Erena expressed satisfaction with the increased confidence of Nigerian squash players, emphasizing the positive impact of various tournaments held during the year. He called for collaborative efforts to organize more tournaments in the coming year, recognizing the valuable contributions of young and talented players.
Regarding the development of squash in the North, Erena acknowledged an ongoing rebuilding process. He mentioned the emergence of new players and expressed optimism that, with exposure, they would gain momentum in the coming year. Erena emphasized the commitment of stakeholders to discovering and nurturing talents to achieve stardom in the sport.
