The final qualifying event for the HSBC BWF World Tour Finals 2023, the LI-NING China Masters 2023, will determine the top eight players in each category. Gregoria Mariska Tunjung secured her place with a title victory at the Kumamoto Masters Japan 2023, placing her seventh in the women's singles.
Beiwen Zhang, in ninth place, is in a good position for qualification, while Pornpawee Chochuwong's injury and Supanida Katethong's early exit in Shenzhen impact their chances.
In men's singles, Viktor Axelsen's Kumamoto Masters title elevated him to third place, with Jonatan Christie and Li Shi Feng leading. Kunlavut Vitidsarn secures automatic qualification, leaving the top seven spots contested by players like Ng Tze Yong and Kenta Nishimoto. A notable clash in the first round sees Malaysian compatriots Ng and Lee Zii Jia competing for a qualifying position.
In men's doubles, Liu Yu Chen/Ou Xuan Yi's runner-up finish in Kumamoto propelled them to eighth place. Malaysians Ong Yew Sin/Teo Ee Yi face tough competition after a first-round loss, while Olympic champions Lee Yang/Wang Chi-Lin aim to overtake them. In women's doubles, Liu Sheng Shu/Tan Ning, a rising pair, secured the fourth spot with a runner-up finish in Kumamoto.
The women's doubles competition features intense competition between Jongkolphan Kititharakul/Rawinda Prajongjai (eighth) and Benyapa Aimsaard/Nuntakarn Aimsaard, separated by just over 1500 points. In mixed doubles, the battle for qualification is tight between Ye Hong Wei/Lee Chia Hsin, Tang Chun Man/Tse Ying Suet, and Hiroki Midorikawa/Natsu Saito. The China Masters will be crucial for these pairs to secure their spots in the World Tour Finals.
