Ekiti Governor, Oyebanji, redeems pledge to National Youth Games contingent

Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Abiodun Oyebaniji, has announced various cash prizes for the state's contingent at the last National Youth Games (NYG) in Delta State, as a token of appreciation for their patriotism, commitment, and dedication.
Gov. Oyebaniji hosted 100 athletes, their coaches, and parents of Team Ekiti's NYG representatives who gathered at his office.
The Governor's office Conference Hall was filled with excitement as everyone eagerly awaited the financial rewards from the governor. The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Community Communication, Mrs. Mary Omotosho, and the Commissioner for Youth Development, Mr. Gold Adebayo, were present to convey the governor's message to them.
Envelopes prepared with the names of each of the 100 athletes and their coaches were carefully arranged. Each name was called one by one to collect a token reward as an appreciation from the government for their loyalty and love for the state.
According to the Governor's aide, all the athletes who didn't win medals for Ekiti State received N25,000 each, while every bronze medalist received N50,000. Silver medalists were rewarded with N75,000 each, and gold medalists received N100,000 each.
All the coaches whose sports featured at the National Youth Games 2023 for Ekiti State were rewarded with N50,000 each, and sports secretaries, medical staff, and other personnel who were present at ASABA 2023 NYG also received their share.
The biggest beneficiary of the day was SSS 3 student, Mustapha Abdulrahman, who won a gold, a silver, and a bronze medal in golf at the National Youth Games for Ekiti State. He received three envelopes containing N100,000, N75,000, and N50,000 each.
Aina Goodnews, who won a silver and a bronze medal, also received two envelopes containing N75,000 and N50,000 for her achievements.
All 15 baseball players who won a bronze medal for Ekiti State received N50,000 each.
The Commissioner for Youth, Mr. Gold Adebayo, handed over the envelopes to each of the beneficiaries, expressing thanks on behalf of the State government. He assured that the governor's commitment to youth development, which makes up the majority of Ekiti State's population, remains a top priority in the government's agenda. He congratulated all the beneficiaries and encouraged them to continue making the state proud in their chosen sports careers. Mr. Adebayo mentioned that the governor's vision for sports development had led to the signing of the Sprouts Commission Bill into Law, a promise to construct a modern Indoor Sports Hall, and other morale-boosting sports initiatives.
On her part, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Community Communication, Mrs. Mary Omotosho, pointed out that the prompt fulfillment of Governor Oyebaniji's promise to the young athletes was clear evidence of the governor's high regard for the welfare of every Ekiti resident, young and old. She emphasized that the governor prioritizes people-oriented initiatives, programs, and policies, and she encouraged Ekiti people both at home and abroad to continue supporting him and his government. She assured that Governor Oyebaniji would not renege on his promises to the people; on the contrary, he would ensure their fulfillment ahead of schedule.
Expressing their gratitude for the governor's gesture, the athletes' parents were full of applause, commending the governor for his unwavering support for sports. They mentioned that his exceptional passion for sports had inspired them to allow their children and wards to pursue their training programs. The parents lauded Governor Oyebaniji's leadership style and believed that it brightened the hope of every Ekiti resident for a greater Ekiti State.
