Division 1 Volleyball: UCEM unbeaten, NAF returns to winning ways

UCEM VC of Enugu has recorded its second win, with NAF Rockets returning to winning ways at the ongoing final phase of the 2024 National Division 1 Volleyball League in Umuahia, Abia State.

UCEM VC faced off against Katsina United, winning 3-0 (25-18, 25-15, 25-17). UCEM entered the match with fiery determination, dominating the first set with precise spikes, which ended at 25-18.

In the second set, UCEM's momentum built, their teamwork flawless, resulting in a 25-15 finish. Katsina struggled to find their rhythm, and despite a spirited effort in the third set, UCEM closed the match with a strong 25-17, marking a convincing 3-0 sweep.

In the encounter between NAF Rockets and G-Ranks Spikers, the Rockets showcased their strategy and skill, winning 3-0 (25-22, 25-17, 25-21).

The first set was a nail-biter, with both teams trading points back and forth. The G-Ranks fought valiantly, but the Rockets ultimately edged them out with a score of 25-22, causing the crowd to erupt in cheers.

In the second set, the Rockets gained momentum, their serves becoming more aggressive and their defense impenetrable. They took the set decisively at 25-17. With their confidence soaring, the Rockets closed out the match in the third set, sealing a 3-0 victory with a final score of 25-21, much to the delight of their supporters.

In a dramatic clash, the Safety Spikers went head-to-head with Sword VC, losing by 2-3 (21-25, 20-25, 25-22, 25-20, 9-15). The tension was palpable as both teams entered the court, knowing that each point could tip the scales.

The first set saw Sword VC take an early lead, leveraging their powerful serves to secure a 25-21 win. The Spikers, undeterred, fought hard in the second set but fell short at 20-25.

Just when it seemed like Sword would claim the match, the Spikers rallied, winning the third set 25-22 and igniting hope among their supporters.

The fourth set was a fierce battle, with the Spikers showing resilience and determination, but the Safety Spikers took it 25-20.

In a thrilling fifth set, Sword VC pushed through to victory, finishing 15-9 and securing a hard-fought 3-2 win, leaving the crowd on their feet.
