120th Lagos international polo tournament: Coronation Group Ltd pledges commitment to development of Sport in Nigeria

Coronation Group Ltd, the title sponsor of the 2024 Lagos Polo Tournament Silver Cup, pledged more support on Sunday to foster the growth of the sport in Nigeria.

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Coronation Group Ltd, Wole Onasanya, made the pledge at the finals of the 2024 Silver Cup held at the Lagos Polo Club in Ikoyi, Ibadan.

The final of the 120th edition of the Lagos International Polo Tournament was won by Ibadan Durante after defeating Kano MSR in a keenly contested match.

The 2024 Silver Cup tournament, which commenced on Feb. 13, had its final played on Sunday, February 18, with 14 teams from Polo Clubs across Nigeria in attendance.

Speaking about the support for Polo in Nigeria, the CEO of Coronation Group Ltd, Onasanya, expressed delight in being the title sponsor of the coveted Silver Cup at the 2024 Lagos Polo Tournament, adding that the company would continue to provide more support.

"We are committed to the development of polo in Nigeria, demonstrating our dedication to supporting the sport, which brings us joy.

"Coronation Group has a longstanding tradition of supporting the Lagos Polo Club, and we have been doing so for the past seven years.

"The 2024 Silver Cup concluded beautifully, showcasing what we care about, because we care about Polo in Nigeria.

Onasanya mentioned that Coronation Group would launch a 'Wealth App' to encourage more investment among the youth.

Ibadan Durante emerged as the winners of the 120th Silver Cup after defeating Kano MSR in a closely contested final. Carl Alakija of Ibadan Durante was awarded the 'Most Disciplined Player' of the tournament, while Koye Ige won the Most Valuable Player of the Tournament.
