Chevron Championship: Prior to the game's end due to darkness, South Korean Kim A-lim goes up

Posted : 23 April 2023
Kim A-lim of South Korea shot a seven-under 65 on Friday to take the lead in the Chevron Championship.

The 2020 US Open victor is ahead of Megan Khang and Lilia Vu by one stroke.
Georgia Hall of England is seven shots behind of the lead with a second round score of 73.

At The Club at Carlton Woods in Texas, play was hampered by rain for two hours, and 31 players were unable to complete the round before dusk.

With four holes remaining, Peiyun Chien, who took the lead unexpectedly in the first round, is at five-under par.

With a midday score of seven under par, Vu held the lead for the majority of the day until Kim returned eight birdies following a bogey on her first hole.

Olympic champion Nelly Korda, who recorded three bogeys and five birdies in her last mixed round, is tied for fourth.

"There are bogeys out there and you try to minimise your mistakes as much as possible," said Korda.

"I was punching the air a couple of times after my two three-putts, which are kind of stupid mistakes, but you just kind of have to stay mentally tough and know that there are some birdie opportunities as well."

The number one player in the world, Lydia Ko, who was three over par with two holes remaining when play was stopped, is probably going to miss the predicted one-over cut.

Jennifer Kupcho's chances of successfully defending her championship are minimal because the American is also unlikely to make the cut after shooting a six-over 78 that featured two bogeys, a triple bogey, a double bogey, and three more bogeys.
