Charlie Woods Misses Cut at US Junior Amateur Championship

Posted : 24 July 2024

Charlie Woods, the 15-year-old son of golf legend Tiger Woods, struggled at the US Junior Amateur championship, posting a 10-over par 80 on Tuesday. This performance, combined with his opening round of 82, left him with a total score of 22-over 162, missing the cut for the match-play stage of the tournament at Oakland Hills Country Club near Detroit.

During his second round, Charlie managed to make just one birdie and also recorded four bogeys, two double bogeys, and a triple bogey. His final score placed him near the bottom of the leaderboard, 18 strokes behind the 64 players who advanced to the next stage of the competition.

Despite his son's struggles, Tiger Woods was present on the course to support Charlie but was unable to act as his caddie due to tournament regulations. The winner of the championship's 36-hole final on Saturday will earn a spot in the 2025 US Open at Oakmont.

Tiger Woods himself won the US Junior Amateur title three times in the early 1990s, while Jordan Spieth is the only other player to have won it more than once. The Woods family has also competed together at the PNC Championship, with Tiger and Charlie finishing as runners-up in 2021.
