Charlie Woods Hits First Hole-in-One at PNC Championship

Posted : 24 December 2024

Charlie Woods, the 15-year-old son of Tiger Woods, added another remarkable achievement to his growing list on Sunday, scoring his first-ever hole-in-one at the Ritz-Carlton Golf Club in Orlando, Florida, during the PNC Championship.

On the 176-yard, par-3 No. 4 hole, Woods made a perfect 7-iron shot that propelled his team into the solo lead at 17 under during the final round. The ace marked a significant personal milestone for Charlie and helped secure the duo's position at the top of the leaderboard during the two-day event.

Competing alongside his father, Tiger Woods, for the fifth time at the PNC Championship, Charlie’s performance helped push their combined score to 17 under, just ahead of the competition. The pair entered the final round tied for the lead at 13 under, with the 2021 PNC Championship marking their best result to date—a runner-up finish.

Tiger, who has been recovering from a 2021 car crash and multiple surgeries, was playing his first competitive round since the 2023 Open Championship, where he missed the cut. Despite his physical challenges, Tiger has remained a key figure in the event alongside his son.

Charlie’s hole-in-one wasn’t the only one of the day, as Padraig Harrington’s son, Paddy, also made an ace on the 214-yard, par-3 eighth hole, drawing his team to within one stroke of the leaders. The event, which uses a two-player scramble format, provided plenty of excitement as both father-son teams showcased their talent and determination. For Charlie, the ace was not only a personal triumph but also an important step in his development as a golfer, following in the footsteps of his legendary father.
