Brooks Koepka clinched his fifth LIV Golf title and second of the year by defeating Jon Rahm in a thrilling play-off at the Greenbrier Invitational. Koepka, 34, shot an impressive seven-under-par 63 in his final round, leveling the score with Rahm, who carded a 65. Both players ended the tournament at 19-under par on the Old White course in West Virginia, setting the stage for a dramatic play-off.
During the play-off on the 18th hole, Rahm’s tee shot landed him in a bunker, while his subsequent shot left him 20 feet from the hole. Koepka made par effortlessly, putting the pressure on Rahm to match his performance to keep his hopes alive. Despite a close attempt, Rahm missed his putt for par, granting the victory to Koepka.
This win adds to Koepka’s illustrious career, marking his fifth LIV Golf title, with previous victories in Jeddah (2022 and 2023), Orlando (2023), and Singapore earlier this year. Koepka expressed particular satisfaction with this victory, noting, "This is probably my favourite one. It's always good when you have to battle good players."
Koepka also took pleasure in avenging his loss to Rahm at the 2023 Masters, stating, "Jon is a hell of a player. For whatever reason, he has always gotten the better of me a little bit as of late. It feels nice just to get one." Additionally, Koepka's team, Smash, won the team title by three shots, further highlighting his successful outing.
