Austin Eckroat clinched his second PGA Tour victory at the World Wide Technology Championship in Los Cabos, Mexico, with a stellar final-round 63, finishing one stroke ahead of the competition. The 25-year-old American carded 11 birdies and two bogeys to end the tournament with a 24-under 264, securing the win at Tiger Woods' El Cardonal course at Diamante.
Eckroat’s performance was nothing short of impressive as he described his round as "automatic," with putts falling effortlessly. His 63 on Sunday was the highlight of his week, and it earned him the $1.296 million top prize in the $7.2 million event, which is part of the autumn tournaments that determine the final PGA Tour spots for 2025. The win also marked a memorable conclusion to a successful year.
This victory marked Eckroat’s second PGA Tour win, following his first career title at the Cognizant Classic in March. Despite starting the day one stroke behind, Eckroat's nine-under round was enough to edge out his competitors in a highly competitive field. "It was a good battle," he said, reflecting on the tight competition throughout the tournament.
The final leaderboard saw a tight finish, with Carson Young and Justin Lower tied for second at 265. Lower made a dramatic eagle on the final hole, while Young birdied the 18th. Max Greyserman finished fourth at 266, and Joe Highsmith rounded out the top five at 269. Young's second-place finish was a career-best, while Eckroat’s birdie on the 17th hole helped him secure the win, despite a final-hole bogey.
