Posted : 30 October 2023
Alison Lee capped off a remarkable weekend at the Aramco Team Series in Saudi Arabia, securing a dominant eight-shot victory with a final-round score of seven-under-par 65. The 28-year-old American achieved an incredible feat by breaking the 54-hole scoring record on the Ladies European Tour, finishing at a remarkable 29-under 187.
Her impressive performance put her ahead of Spain's Carlota Ciganda, who finished three shots clear of England's Charley Hull in Riyadh. Lee attributed her success to her excellent putting and precision on the greens, allowing her to create numerous birdie opportunities, which she confidently converted during her rounds.
Lee's extraordinary achievement included setting a new 36-hole record with consecutive rounds of 61 on Friday and Saturday, surpassing the previous record held by Scot Kylie Henry in the 2014 Ladies German Open. She also became only the second player in Ladies European Tour history to win a title without dropping a shot, a feat previously accomplished by Italy's Diana Luna at the 2011 Ladies German Open.
Reflecting on her outstanding performance, Lee expressed her delight at winning such a challenging tournament, highlighting the confidence she gained from her previous success as the runner-up at the BMW Ladies Championship the week before.
