Fourteen-year-old Chioma Kanu of Lagos clinched the gold medal in the 100m freestyle swimming event at the ongoing National Youth Games in Asaba, Delta, on Saturday.
Kanu, filled with joy, expressed satisfaction with her overall performance at the games.
“I am very glad and excited. I want to thank everyone who supported me, especially my coach.
“This gold medal is a dream come true for me, and I must give thanks to God for this achievement,” she said.
Kanu won the gold medal with a time of 1:05.06 minutes.
In the male category, Ibuunife Obajilowo of Kwara won the 100m freestyle, clinching the gold medal with a time of 1:08.06 minutes.
