The 2023 Keffi Polo Open has ended in grand style, with enthusiasts commending Wadada Foundation's education support initiative. The championships are designed to use polo as a tool to support the education of orphans and out-of-school children in Nasarawa State through the Foundation.
The 2023 Keffi Polo Ranch Open tournament, which kicked off on Tuesday, concluded on Sunday at the Keffi Polo Ranch in Keffi. The defending champions, Malcomines of Jos, retained the Senate President’s Cup with a six-to-five goals victory, edging out the Sen. Wadada-led Keffi Ponys in the high-goal five-chukka event. The runner-up Keffi Ponys settled for the Governor’s Cup.
In addition, the Heritage Askia Williams Polo team won the prize for the low-goal four-chukka event and the George Coumantaros trophy after defeating Intel Autos three to two goals. The event, sponsored by the Flour Mills of Nigeria Plc, is supported by Kursi Investment Nig. Ltd., SW Global, Synergy Fertiliser, and the Nasarawa State government.
Deputy Senate President, Barau Jibrin, who graced the event, commended the organizer of the tournament and urged others to emulate him. "This is a wonderful program. I commend Sen. Wadada for organizing this tournament in support of his Foundation. That is why we are here; I call on others to emulate him. Education is the bedrock of every society, and the duty of creating sound education rests on the shoulders of all of us and not one person. So, what Sen. Wadada has done is a good thing that can help the society; one that everyone should emulate," Jibrin said.
