Despite being Nigeria's No. 1 rated athlete in her category, Chinazum couldn't overcome her opponent's resilience on the mat.
Her journey in the tournament began brightly as she defeated Omolara Eunice of Ghana in the quarter-final bout. However, in the semi-final clash against Bouma Coulibaly, Chinazum encountered formidable resistance. Despite throwing everything she had, she couldn't secure victory, and the Ivorian fighter emerged victorious after two rounds of intense competition.
In another event of the day, -63Kg contender Baffa Mohammed started strong by defeating Bennet Tossou in the Round of 32. However, his journey was cut short in the round of 16 as he faced tough opposition from Ben Konate of Ivory Coast, ultimately bowing out of the competition.
Meanwhile, Adbul Ariola, competing in the -54Kg category, faced a tough challenge against Ethiopia's Zwede Fitsh in the round of 16. Despite a valiant effort, Ariola narrowly lost in the third round on the mat, ending his medal hopes in the tournament.
In the women's +73Kg category, Florence Okafor showcased her skill and determination by defeating Boukar Assaine of Tchad in the round of 16. However, her journey came to an end in the quarter-finals as she faced a strong opponent in Fatima Ezzahra Abo of Morocco, ultimately falling short of advancing further in the competition.
