The reigning African Badminton men's singles champion, Opeyori Anuoluwapo, delivered another classic performance on Sunday, winning Nigeria’s first gold medal at the ongoing African Games in Ghana. He defeated compatriot Godwin Olofua in the badminton men’s singles.
This victory has elevated the energetic Opeyori as an undisputed champion for two consecutive times at the African Games. He has successfully defended his title, further cementing his place as the No. 1 ranked badminton player in Africa.
Adesokan Dorcas and Victor Ikechukwu, who lost to Godwin Olofua, have both secured bronze in the badminton women’s singles and men’s singles, respectively.
Nigeria dominated the badminton space, with both male and female players winning gold, silver, and bronze medals.
