Team Nigeria moved back to its former second position on Monday after securing two gold medals on Day 10 of the ongoing 13th African Games in Accra, Ghana.
Nigeria had occupied the second position for three days before being dislodged by South Africa to third place on the medals table.
However, at the end of Day 10, Nigeria surged ahead with two additional gold medals, bringing their total to 76 medals (27 gold, 21 silver, and 28 bronze), displacing Team South Africa to third place with 25 gold, 29 silver, and 38 bronze medals.
Although Nigeria sits above South Africa on the medal table with more gold medals, they have fewer total medals won compared to the South Africans, who have won a total of 92 medals.
Egypt still maintains the lead with 154 medals, comprising 90 gold, 35 silver, and 29 bronze medals.
