Nigeria's men's handball national team, also known as the Golden Arrows, lost their last group game to Egypt 27-25 at the ongoing 13th African Games in Ghana.
Coach Rafiu's side stood up to the African champions, Egypt, from the beginning of the match until the end with determination, but they ultimately lost due to some turnovers, resulting in a narrow defeat.
The Governor of Kwara State, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, was present at the Borteyman Sports Complex in Accra, Ghana, to watch the match upon the invitation of the President of the Handball Federation of Nigeria (HFN), Mr. Samuel Ocheho.
The result means Nigeria finished second in Group A with 4 points, while Egypt has 6 points. The team earned 2 points for each victory.
Nigeria will face DR Congo in the semifinals on Wednesday. DR Congo defeated Kenya 45-31 to finish on top of Group B with 6 points.
A victory for the Golden Arrows against DR Congo will see them qualify for the final of the handball event for the first time in the history of the African Games.
