Valentino Rossi’s MotoGP team, VR46, has unveiled a unique, one-off livery for the upcoming Americas Grand Prix in Austin. For this race, the team is shifting from its usual white and fluorescent yellow colors to a darker, more striking design. The new livery prominently features the iconic stars and stripes pattern inspired by the United States flag, offering a bold look for the event.
Both Fabio di Giannantonio and Franco Morbidelli, the team's 2025 recruit, will race at the Circuit of the Americas sporting this special livery on their Ducati bikes. The bold design choice adds an exciting twist to the usual appearance of the VR46 bikes, with the stars and stripes symbolizing the team’s tribute to the U.S. Grand Prix.
The inspiration behind the livery comes from the National Football League (NFL) and its most prestigious event, the Super Bowl. VR46 sought to bring the same sense of excitement and energy to the MotoGP track as seen in one of the biggest sporting spectacles in the world. The team had teased the possibility of a surprise livery change earlier in the week, and on Thursday evening, the covers were finally removed, revealing the new design.
VR46 has had a strong start to the 2025 MotoGP season. Morbidelli secured a spot on the podium in Argentina during the previous race, while di Giannantonio also finished within the top five, despite still recovering from a pre-season injury. Their promising results have helped VR46 climb to third place in the team standings, just behind the factory Ducati and Gresini Racing teams.
Last year, di Giannantonio finished sixth in Texas, while his then-teammate Marco Bezzecchi came in eighth on the sister GP23 bike. With both riders showing positive progress, the team is hopeful for another strong performance at the demanding Circuit of the Americas.
Morbidelli expressed excitement for the race weekend in Austin, citing the track as one of his favorites, though challenging. After his impressive performance in Argentina, he feels confident about maintaining his momentum and starting strong from the first day. He’s looking forward to continuing the positive results and building on the confidence gained in the previous races.
Di Giannantonio shared similar enthusiasm, noting that his physical recovery is progressing well, allowing him to train as usual. He acknowledged the demanding nature of the Austin circuit and emphasized the importance of arriving fully prepared. Di Giannantonio is also eager to continue the progress he has made since his recovery and is determined to start strong, building on the momentum from Termas.
