Verstappen affirms strong relationship with race engineer amid radio exchanges

Max Verstappen has reaffirmed his strong rapport with race engineer Gianpiero Lambiase, dispelling any doubts raised by their heated radio exchanges during intense moments. Lambiase, who has been Verstappen's race engineer since he joined Red Bull in 2016, has been an integral part of the Dutch driver's journey, overseeing all of his 50 Formula 1 victories and three world championships.
Nevertheless, their radio exchanges, such as those observed at the recent United States Grand Prix, have prompted speculation about their relationship.
Addressing these speculations ahead of the Mexico race, Verstappen firmly asserted, "We always get along very well." He acknowledged that in the heat of competition, he had expressed his displeasure with Lambiase speaking to him while braking. However, he clarified that these moments didn't reflect the overall harmonious relationship they share, even noting a lighthearted interaction following the race.
Verstappen's recent victory in Austin showcased his resilience in overcoming brake issues and fending off Lewis Hamilton's late charge, although Hamilton was later disqualified. When asked about the threat posed by Mercedes in the upcoming season, Verstappen remained cautious, citing the uniqueness of the Austin circuit and the need for car setup adjustments due to the challenging track conditions.
Looking ahead, Verstappen aims for a fifth victory in Mexico, which would mark his 16th win of the season, surpassing his own record from 2022. Nonetheless, he emphasizes that his primary focus is to take each race one by one and secure as many wins as possible until the end of the season.
