British Speedway star Robert Lambert is excited about the upcoming Speedway Grand Prix in Cardiff, where he hopes to secure his first Grand Prix win. Speaking to Eurosport, the 25-year-old highlighted the unique atmosphere at the Principality Stadium as a motivating factor for him.
Lambert is eager to perform well in front of the home crowd and improve his standings in this year's competition. The event in Cardiff is highly anticipated, with thousands of fans expected to attend. There will be pre-event festivities, including a fan zone in the city center.
Lambert described why the Cardiff round holds a special place for riders and fans. He mentioned the buzz and excitement in the city leading up to the event and the grandeur of the stadium, which houses a speedway track. The echoing noise of the crowd in the stadium creates a unique atmosphere.
While racing, Lambert explained that the noise of the fans fades into the background, but the sight of the packed stadium can provide motivation, especially when things aren't going well on the track. He acknowledged that the atmosphere can be intimidating initially, but with experience, riders learn to appreciate the moment.
Reflecting on his season, Lambert acknowledged that it hasn't gone as planned, despite a strong start. Currently sitting eighth in the standings, he aims to finish the season on a high note and secure automatic qualification for next year's edition with a top-six finish. Lambert expressed confidence in his abilities and his desire to perform well in Cardiff, aiming for a spot in the final to earn valuable points.
He is currently nine points behind sixth place and fellow Briton Dan Bewley, who won the last Cardiff event. Lambert believes he can make a strong comeback in the remaining races of the season and achieve his goal of a top-six finish.
