Logan Sargeant's debut F1 point at the United States Grand Prix, achieved alongside his teammate Alex Albon, has ignited his motivation and boosted the entire Williams team. Starting from the back of the grid, Sargeant showcased a remarkable performance, crossing the line in P12, later elevated to P10 due to the disqualification of Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc.
Sargeant expressed his hope for more points in the future, emphasizing the extra motivation the recent achievement provides. He acknowledged the challenges facing Williams as other teams introduce upgrades, but he believes their execution and ability to capitalize on opportunities are vital. The conversation with team boss James Vowles was brief, as Sargeant had to rush to catch a flight, but the entire team was elated with their strong performance.
Transitioning from a Sprint weekend in Austin to the traditional format in Mexico City, Sargeant is optimistic about finding the right setup for the Williams car. He acknowledged the unique challenges posed by the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez, characterized by its low grip and high altitude, which necessitates adjustments in downforce levels and driving approach. Sargeant looks forward to utilizing the three practice sessions to fine-tune their performance.
In the constructors' championship, Williams currently holds P7 with 26 points, maintaining a 10-point lead over Alfa Romeo in eighth place.
