The 3rd Rally Chile Biobío is set to deliver an exciting combination of world-class motorsport, featuring both the World Rally Championship (WRC) and the Copec RallyMobil tournament, from September 26 to 29. The international series marks its eleventh of 13 rounds, while the national series hits its fifth of eight events. The rally is once again hosted in Concepción, the capital of the Biobío Region, adding to the excitement of the motorsport season in Chile.
Top teams will showcase their hybrid Rally1 cars, with Hyundai Motorsport fielding leader Thierry Neuville, alongside Esapekka Lappi and Ott Tänak, the latter having won the previous two editions of the rally. Toyota Gazoo Racing will have four cars driven by Kalle Rovanperä, Sébastien Ogier, Elfyn Evans, and Sami Pajari, with Pajari making his debut in the car, replacing Takamoto Katsuta. M-Sport Ford will feature Adrien Fourmaux, Grégoire Munster, and promising young talent Mārtiņš Sesks from Latvia, who has been gaining attention for his recent performances.
In WRC2, four Škoda Fabia RS cars will be driven by class leader Oliver Solberg, Gus Greensmith, Kajetan Kajetanowicz, and Paraguay’s Fabrizio Zaldívar. Other notable entries include Citroën’s Yohan Rossel and Nikolay Gryazin, as well as Toyota's Jan Solans, marking the debut of a Toyota Yaris in Chile. The WRC3 category will see competition from drivers in Ford Fiesta Rally3 cars, including Diego Domínguez, Eduardo Castro, and Matteo Fontana, while France’s Ghjuvanni Rossi will race in a Renault Clio.
In the Copec RallyMobil series, Alberto Heller leads the RC2 Pro class in his Citroën C3, closely followed by Jorge Martínez in a Fabia RS. Other competitors include Martín Scuncio, Pedro Heller, and Gerardo Rosselot, among others. The event will culminate with multiple stages across various challenging terrains, with the final stage on Sunday through Laraquete and Biobío serving as the Power Stage. The total race distance spans over 1,200 kilometers, ensuring a thrilling conclusion to this prestigious rally.
