The 2025 and 2026 MotoGP seasons are set to kick off in Thailand, marking the first time in over 25 years that the championship will begin in Southeast Asia, according to an announcement made by organizers on Wednesday. The Buriram circuit, which has typically hosted races in late October, will now be the venue for the season-opening race on March 2 next year.
Buriram first joined the MotoGP calendar in 2018, but the circuit did not host races in 2020 or 2021 due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Traditionally, the season opener has been held in Qatar, although last year saw the opening race take place in Portugal.
While the specific dates are yet to be finalized, organizers have indicated that the full 2025 calendar will be released later this year.
