MotoGP champion Francesco Bagnaia suffered a harrowing crash during the Catalunya Grand Prix, causing a red flag in the race. The incident unfolded at the race's outset when five riders, including Bagnaia, collided at the first corner. Despite starting from pole position, Bagnaia lost control of his Ducati, leading to a dramatic fall.
Unfortunately, Brad Binder couldn't avoid running over Bagnaia's legs as he lay on the track. The severity of the crash necessitated immediate medical attention. Medics rushed to the scene to assist Bagnaia before he was transported away via ambulance.
Notably, other riders involved in the incident at the first corner included Alex Marquez, Enea Bastianini, Johann Zarco, Fabio di Giannantonio, and Marco Bezzecchi. Bagnaia, who had been leading the title race for the year, had his crash at the second corner.
MotoGP reported that all six riders, including Bagnaia, were conscious following the incident. Both Bagnaia and Bastianini were scheduled to undergo further medical examinations at the hospital.
In the main race, Aleix Espargaro, who had previously won the sprint race on Saturday, claimed victory, with his Aprilia teammate Maverick Vinales finishing second and Jorge Martin securing third place.
