Lewis Hamilton led Mercedes one-two at Canadian Grand Prix

During the Friday practice session at the Canadian Grand Prix, Lewis Hamilton led a Mercedes one-two with George Russell closely behind, setting their fastest laps later than their competitors. Hamilton edged out Russell by a mere 0.027 seconds.
Fernando Alonso secured fourth place, followed by Charles Leclerc and Max Verstappen. The session experienced three red-flag stoppages and technical difficulties with the track's closed-circuit television system.
The first session was interrupted after only 12 drivers completed one flying lap due to the CCTV problem. To compensate for the lost track time, the second session was extended by half an hour. Teams adopted varying programs, with Mercedes conducting race-simulation runs early and Red Bull opting for fast laps at the start. Ferrari used medium-compound tires before switching to soft tires.
This resulted in an unexpected order, with Mercedes displaying greater speed and Verstappen lagging behind. Valtteri Bottas, Sergio Perez, Lance Stroll, and Pierre Gasly completed the top 10. Ferrari's performance was notable, with Leclerc closely trailing Verstappen during their race runs, while Sainz and Perez couldn't match their teammates' pace.
