Lewis Hamilton "felt improvements" in practise for the Monaco Grand Prix

Lewis Hamilton, who finished sixth quickest in practise for the Monaco Grand Prix, said he "felt the improvements" of his upgraded Mercedes.
Max Verstappen of Red Bull, Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz of Ferrari, and Fernando Alonso of Aston Martin followed him in setting the pace.
Hamilton said: "The car was generally feeling good.
"It's a shame we weren't as close as I'd have hoped at the end but definitely felt the improvements."
"It's not a place to test an upgrade."

It is the first of several planned changes after they admitted at the beginning of the season that they had erred by following a distinctive design strategy that had rendered them unviable for the previous two seasons.
In Monaco, Mercedes would not be able to bridge the distance to the quickest cars, according to Hamilton.
He said that the car's shortcomings were clear but did not specify what they were.
When notified by his engineer Peter Bonnington that he was falling short of the best cars, Hamilton, who finished the session 0.498 seconds off the lead, shouted over the radio: "Damn. There isn't much more speed the automobile can reach."
The Emilia Romagna Grand Prix was scheduled to include the update, but it was postponed due to floods in northern Italy the previous weekend.
Major redesigns are rarely introduced by teams in Monaco due to the track's very narrow and winding layout, which makes it challenging to understand their effects.
