Max Verstappen of Red Bull secured his 10th consecutive win, setting an all-time record, as he triumphed over Ferrari's strong challenge at the Italian Grand Prix.
Starting second, Verstappen had to bide his time as he trailed pole-winner Carlos Sainz of Ferrari for 14 laps. His persistence paid off when Sainz made an error, locking his brakes into the first chicane, allowing Verstappen to seize the lead.
Sainz, in a fierce battle, initially held onto second place ahead of his teammate Charles Leclerc but had to eventually defend against Verstappen's teammate, Sergio Perez, who took second place with nine laps remaining.
Sainz valiantly fought to maintain his position, while Leclerc was in pursuit of the final podium spot. Sainz, with worn tires, defended his position fiercely, but eventually, Leclerc secured the third podium place.
Meanwhile, Mercedes' George Russell claimed fifth place, overcoming a five-second penalty for leaving the track. Lewis Hamilton displayed an impressive performance on an inverted strategy, starting on the hard tire and switching to the medium to finish sixth.
Ferrari put up a strong fight against Red Bull at their home race, with their most competitive showing of the season. Verstappen now leads the championship by 145 points as he inches closer to his third drivers' title.
