Hungarian Grand Prix: Max Verstappen wins, showcasing Red Bull's dominance in Formula 1
Posted : 24 July 2023
Max Verstappen achieved a commanding victory at the Hungarian Grand Prix with a remarkable winning margin of nearly 34 seconds, making it the largest of the season. The Red Bull driver described the race as "a pretty perfect day," showcasing his dominance on the track. Red Bull's success is becoming increasingly evident, and they seem to be on a path to a near-perfect season in Formula 1.
The Hungarian Grand Prix marked Red Bull's 12th consecutive victory, a streak that began in the last race of the previous season in Abu Dhabi. This accomplishment surpasses the record set by McLaren in 1988, when Ayrton Senna and Alain Prost, two of the sport's all-time greats, drove the legendary McLaren MP4/4 chassis powered by Honda's turbo engine to an exceptional performance.
While Red Bull also benefits from a Honda engine, it is the combination of the team's excellence and Verstappen's outstanding driving skills that sets them apart this year. Sergio Perez secured a couple of wins early in the season, but Verstappen's incredible form has seen him win seven consecutive races, making him appear unbeatable.
With Verstappen's dominating performance, various Formula 1 records could be broken in 2023. Mercedes' record of 19 victories in a single year from 2016 and McLaren's 1988 record of winning all but one race seem to be at risk. Red Bull has the potential to achieve the unprecedented feat of sweeping the board.
On the driver's front, Verstappen is closing in on Sebastian Vettel's record of nine consecutive wins from 2013. Additionally, he could surpass his own record of 15 wins in a single season, which he accomplished just last year. The Red Bull driver's remarkable form is raising expectations for more historic achievements in the world of Formula 1.
