Haas Formula 1 confirms Hulkenberg and Magnussen as drivers for 2024 season
Posted : 24 August 2023
The Haas Formula 1 team has confirmed that Nico Hulkenberg and Kevin Magnussen will continue as their drivers for the 2024 season. Guenther Steiner, the team principal, expressed satisfaction with their solid performance this year, leading to the decision to retain the duo. Both drivers have considerable experience in Formula 1 and have been valuable assets to the team, offering crucial feedback during the challenging 2023 season.
Hulkenberg and Magnussen were given a fresh opportunity by Haas after facing career setbacks. Magnussen returned to F1 in 2022 after a year away, stepping in when Nikita Mazepin was dropped due to the Ukrainian conflict. Hulkenberg, who had been without a full-time seat since 2019, joined Haas in 2023 after Mick Schumacher's departure.
Hulkenberg's performance has been particularly noteworthy, excelling in qualifying and achieving strong results. His experience and professionalism have been evident, with six Q3 appearances and a season-best second place in Canada. Haas has struggled to convert promising qualifying performances into points due to tire wear issues, which they aim to address with upgrades for the Dutch Grand Prix.
Steiner highlighted the positive chemistry between Hulkenberg and Magnussen, noting their engagement within the team and interactions with fans and partners. Hulkenberg expressed his enthusiasm for the early confirmation, focusing on racing and improvement, while Magnussen acknowledged the team's potential despite this season's challenges and the learning that can contribute to the 2024 car's development.
