Formula 1 2024 season starts Saturdays in Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, with Japanese race moved to April

The Formula 1 season for 2024 will begin with races in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia, which will be held on Saturdays due to the impact of Ramadan. The Japanese race has been moved to 7 April for greater sustainability.
Azerbaijan will be twinned with Singapore in September. The calendar will feature a record 24 races, the same number as initially planned for this year before the cancellation of the Chinese and Emilia-Romagna Grands Prix.
China was set to return, but it was canceled due to uncertainties surrounding the Covid situation earlier in the year. F1 aims to reduce carbon emissions and become net-zero carbon by 2030, but regionalization efforts have been hindered by Canadian organizers resisting twinning the Montreal race with Miami in May.
F1 remains committed to a more sustainable calendar and will continue streamlining operations. Pre-season testing is scheduled for 21-23 February in Bahrain, pending approval from the FIA world motorsport council.
